One great thing about being a Bulakeña is getting to watch amazing fireworks every year, not on New Year's day, but on Bulacan week. Particapants are mostly from Bocaue, Bulacan's (Luzon's?) biggest fireworks and firecrackers producing town.

The annual pyrotechnic display competition was held last night and i watched it, even if it meant not going back to work city last night and waking up at 3am this morning just to get at work at 6am. It was very much worth the sleep deprivation.

Six fireworks makers competed this year, and 2 of them made us Oooh and Aaah and Wow and clap our hands for the whole duration of their 5-minute slot. I felt sad about the others, i wanted them to make a really a good show too, coz even though their fireworks looked like those used during Santacruzans i know they spent a lot. Maybe they learned their lesson from last night's competition (1. Do a lot better next year, or 2. Save the money for other things. They were probably teary-eyed as they watched their good money shoot up and sizzle in the night sky and turn into smoke before our un-impressed eyes. I hope they choose to do No.1)

I liked the ones that spiral their way to the sky. And the ones that are like spinning disks. And the ones that burst into thousands of lights that move in random directions (so kewl!). And the ones that burst into tiny lights that burst again into tiny circles, much like a huge boquet of small flowers.
